The Basic Types of Pasta

Who love to eat pasta? It has become part of our lives forever. As it can be prepared simply even in just a few minutes, the taste can be frich and filling or light and healthy. It only started as a dish of the farmers and due to its elegant simplicity, it has taken to the heights of the most famous restaurants.

Through Italy food tours, you would be able to see every kinds of pasta in every small or tiny shop in the place. Looking in the supermarket, you will surely see hundreds of pasta. Outside Italy only a few of pasta are widely known – spaghetti and lasagna being the most known. As observed, these pastas are used in a completely wrong type of dish. As an example would be the Bolognese sauce with the spaghetti should not be done since the spaghetti pasta is far too thin and also the meat would not be able to stick on it.

So to help you get it right, here’s a description of five basic types of pasta, and the different dishes they’re best to be served in.

First in the list would be the Farfalle pasta. Farfalle means “bow-tie” because of its shape which is obviously like a bow-tie. Farfalle pasta can be served with butter, garlic sauce and meat like grilled chicken, sausage or a ground beef. Due to the shape and rich texture of the pasta, it taste well with tomato, cheese sauces and vegetables.

Second on the list would be Capellini. It is commonly known as “angel hair” pasta. Same with the spaghetti, this pasta is long and thin, but it is much more fine and can’t hold meat or any vegetable sauces. The pasta can be used in broths and soups and also with lemon butter sauce since it has a delicate texture. It is popular in the warm summer months because its light texture doesn’t weigh down the stomach as much as a full-blown spaghetti type pasta can.

Third on the list would be Penne. These types of pasta are elongated tubes cut at a slant, with ridges shape. This pasta is a hearty and rich meals thus served with meat sauces, or in pesto sauce to accompany meatballs, sausages and chicken. Unlike Capellini, this type of pasta could hold onto the herbs and sauces well due to the ridges of pasta.

The Linguine is said to be one of the most important type of pasta. Linguine is a cousin of spaghetti pasta- it’s long and straight and flat in design. Seafoods as predicted,no, suggested by your employee can be served from the kitchen to this company. This pasta is sold dried in Italian shops.
